A Namibian Escape: My Experience at Atlantic Villa Guesthouse

As a proud African traveller, I’ve made a personal commitment to explore more countries on the continent — intentionally and thoughtfully. Every destination has its own rhythm, story, and beauty, and through Escapes with TKay, I document these experiences to share practical travel tips and help shift outdated narratives about safety and travel in Africa.

One of the safest and most memorable destinations I’ve visited recently is Namibia, located on the south-western coast of Africa. Known for its dramatic desert landscapes, diverse wildlife, and scenic Atlantic coastline, Namibia offers travellers a unique blend of adventure and calm.

Choosing the Right Accommodation in Swakopmund

For me, accommodation plays a huge role in the travel experience — especially when travelling solo or internationally. I look for places that feel safe, comfortable, well-located, and full of character. A good stay should be more than functional; it should add to the overall experience.

With the support of Transcend Travel, a boutique travel agency offering tailored travel management services, I booked a four-day travel package to Swakopmund, Namibia. I arrived at Walvis Bay International Airport and spent three nights at Atlantic Villa Guesthouse, located about 40 minutes from the airport.

My Experience at Atlantic Villa Guesthouse

From the moment I arrived, the experience felt seamless. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were warm and attentive — the kind of hospitality that instantly puts you at ease.
