The stage has always been my happiest place. It’s where I feel most alive, energised, grounded, and connected. There’s something powerful about standing behind a microphone, in front of an audience, under the lights. And yet, paradoxically, I am naturally introverted. I don’t crave attention—but on stage, for a brief moment, I embrace it fully.
Over the years, I built a career as a Corporate MC and Program Director, hosting conferences, seminars, and curated conversations. But a few years ago, I made the intentional decision to step away. It was necessary—for my mental well-being, for growth, and for perspective. Still, I missed it.
The Return
Recently, I had the opportunity to step back onto the stage as a Program Director at a corporate HR-focused event. What seemed like another professional engagement became something far more personal.
It was a return to the stage, to my voice, and to a version of myself I hadn’t fully embraced in a while. As a Corporate MC and Financial Wellness Coach, the experience aligned deeply with my purpose:
- advancing employee financial well-being
- contributing to how financial services improve lives
- and creating meaningful, human-centered conversations
More Than Just an Event
This wasn’t just about facilitating a program. It was about rebuilding confidence. There are moments in life that quietly shake your belief in yourself. Moments you don’t always speak about, but you carry them. For me, this was one of those moments. And so, I approached the stage differently.
With intention.
With presence.
With a quiet determination to prove something—not to the audience, but to myself. And in doing so, I rediscovered something important: I am excellent at what I do.
A Strategic Realisation
This experience revealed a gap I had overlooked:
I have not fully leveraged my niche.
Being a finance-led MC—someone who blends facilitation with financial insight and real-world value—is both unique and necessary. And in a growing market, this positioning matters even more.
The Year of Fix
2026, for me, is the Year of Fix.
A year of alignment.
A year of refining what works.
A year of owning my voice, my craft, and my value.
This moment on stage wasn’t just a return—it was a reset.
What Comes Next
As I continue building across my platforms—through TKO Finance & Wellness, The Open Korner Podcast, and Escapes with TKay– I’m leaning more intentionally into the intersection of finance, storytelling, and lived experience. This journey will also be unpacked further in an upcoming conversation with Mpheng on The Open Korner Podcast, where we explore growth, identity, and the process of becoming.
More importantly, I’m grateful to myself for showing up again.
For choosing not to stay hidden.
For finding my voice… again.
